350cc Junior Pre TT Classic Race, 29th May 2006

Hale Hale Rock & Roll
Paul Coward (3), Mike Hose (1), Chris McGahan (hidden) Alan Oversby (4) and Wattie Brown (6) approach Ballabeg

The 2006 Blackford Pre-TT 350cc Classic Road Race “One of the best Bilown races I’ve ever seen”, Charlie Williams Race Commentators words not mine, had hot favourites Paul Coward  and Mike Hose, storming off the line, but the pundits had not reckoned on Alan Oversby and Chris McGahan on the Hales Hondas mixing it in this wheel to wheel, bar to bar, lead swapping epic. By the end of lap one the sun drenched crowd knew they were in for a treat as twice 350 Classic Manx TT winner McGahan headed the dynamic foursome. By lap three the lead was changing rapidly with Coward heading the howling Hondas with Oversby bringing up the rear of the freight train.
The commentators around the course never had a dull moment as the order was never the same twice. As the final laps approached, Oversby had edged toward the front, and four laps before the flag McGahan had dropped back to forth, but not for long. As the spectacle continued to the last lap, the order was Alan Oversby, Chris McGahan , Mike Hose, Paul Coward, Dave Madsen-Mygdal and Wattie Brown. The two Hales boys started the final lap in front and Oversby looked in control but McGahan had the Ballakaighan to Ballabeg section dialled and took the lead which he held until Castletown corner, with Oversby shadowing all the way, it was all down to braking and McGahan’s newly lined twin leading brakes faded and he overshot, as Oversby took the chequered, McGahan just held second from Hose and Coward, a fantastic day for the Hales Honda Team.
