Welbeck Bar Room Tales by Ferodo Vaselini ™

Team Hales Honda always stays at the highly recommended Welbeck. Where many a long hour in the pits, are soothed by a few beers in one of the two well-appointed bars.

Welbeck

Another of the guests over the years, in race weeks is the well-known Bon Vivant & Raconteur Dave Mac. The following stories are from Dave’s Lips

Dave Mac

When Mike Duff came over from Canada, he was put into digs with Dave sharing the same room. There is no true to the rumour that, the experience and subsequent travels together, sharing a Thames Van on the Continental Circus. Was the first small step from Mike to Michelle.

Mike Duff

He was instrumental in helping Joey and his pals from the Fairfield Hotel (The unofficial Irish Embassy) win to wards his unassailable total of 26 TT Wins. By polishing all the sea salt off the corroding Alloy and Magnesium parts of his wks Honda’s. After the infamous Trawler sinking incident.

Joey Dunlop

The most amusing item, was Dave’s to claim to fame. To be the only rider to race two bikes in the same race.
The incident happened after Dave fell of his bike, which he could see was too damaged to continue. For another rider to come off on a CSR 650 at his feet!
On this occasion Dave could see the rider was too damaged to continue.
So as Dave picked the other riders bike up off his leg, the marshals confused by the mêlée, told him to get on and pushed him off.
The incident did not end in a storybook way, as he was black flagged two laps later and subsequently censured by the ACU.
